New York State has some of the most beautiful apple orchards in dare I say it, the world! Our state is known for the best fall apple picking. Our family looks forward to this pass time every year. We’ve been to lots of fun and beautiful apple orchards, but our one go to orchard, which we return to every year, is Masker Orchard in Warwick, NY.
Masker Orchard has free admission, free parking and all you can eat apples while at the farm. Part of the fun is driving our car up to the top of the farm’s hill in search of the most delicious apples. The bumps of the rocky roads make for silly fun and a tiny glimpse of off roading for the children. Once we park, we walk around in search of the perfect picnic spot to put our blanket down have a yummy meal and eat our apples right off the trees. We always spend the day enjoying the beauty of the Warwick Valley and top it off with fun at the petting zoo, pony rides, country store, pumpkin patch and games at the bottom of the hill.
This year we let the kids run wild and lead the adults in our apple hunt. They brought the adults to the most interesting trees and took the lead on tasting apples to report back on the tastes of sweetness versus tartness. The kids used their creativity to make an apple sling shot and an x-ray apple worm finder.
Our trip to Maskers is one of our favorite days of the year and the way that our family welcomes fall!
